International Women's Day

The International Women's Day, celebrated on March 8, originates manifestations ofRussian women for better conditions of living and working against the entry of theircountry in WWI. These events marked the beginning of the Revolution of 1917. Howeverthe idea of celebrating one day the woman had already emerged from the early years of the twentieth century, the United States and Europe in the context of women's strugglesfor better conditions of life and work, as well as the right to vote.
In the West, International Women's Day was celebrated at the beginning of the centuryuntil the 1920s.
In the former Soviet Union during Stalinism, the International Women's Day has becomean element of partisan propaganda.
In Western countries, the date was forgotten for a long time and only recovered by the feminist movement since the 1960s. At present, the celebration of International Women's Day has partially lost its original meaning, acquiring a festive character, andcommercial. On that date, employers, surely not want to evoke the spirit of the workerson strike March 8, 1917, red roses tend to distribute or little gifts from their employees.
1975 was designated by the UN as the International Women's Year and in December1977, the International Women's Day was adopted by the UN to remind the social achievements of women and economic policies.
