On 15th May, marks the ninth anniversary of the International Family Day, proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations by resolution 47/237 of 20 September 1993, highlighting the importance of families as basic units of society. The International Family Day promotes reflection and discussion about the concept of family in societiesworldwide. This day also serves to reflect on the economic, social and cultural factors that affect families, not to mention the problem of descréscimo demographic that isaffecting western societies.
